Face to face Job interview By Balasubramanya

Follow these tips to make sure you always tip the odds in your favor during face to face interview.
While there is no guarantee that you will get the job you are applying for, there are a number of things you can do to dramatically tip the odds in your favor. For each tip that you follow, the chances of you successfully gettingthe job you want will dramatically increase.

The first tip is to always make it a habit to show up to the job interview site about fifteen minutes early. You do not want to take the chance of being so much as a minute late.

While you do not want to be too early, being too late is a sure fire way to not get the job. Some people like to arrive to the interview site 30 minutes later and then head into the building 15 minutes before the interview starts. This gives you time to clear your mind and think.

Once you arrive in the building for the interview, treat everyone you encounter with respect, especially the receptionist. While the receptionist may be on the lower rung of the company, the way in which you treat them can have a big impact on your job outlook.

In addition to this, the receptionist today could be a manager tomorrow, and you may be working under them! If the receptionist gives their opinion of you to their superiors, you will want it to be a positive one.

During the interview, if the person interviewing you becomes casual, this does not mean that you should be. Always maintain a professional look, and do not call the interviewer by their first name unless you know they allow it.

If you are a smoker, avoid smoking before the job interview. Some people hate the smell of cigarette smoke, and if this smell is detected on you when you arrive, you will have one strike against you. Chewing gum during thejob interview is also a big "no."

Another thing that will get you in a lot of trouble during your job interview is your cell phone. While mobile phones are very convenient, and can even be a life saver in certain situations, they can kill your chances of successfully passing ajob interview.

Make sure your cell phone is turned "off" during the interview. If the phone rings during your interview, you can kiss the job offer good bye.

More Job Interview Etiquette
Studies have shown that over 50% of the communication that occurs between homo sapiens comes from the body, not the mouth. This means that not only must you pay attention to the things you say during the job interview, but you will also want to pay attention to the things you say with your body. This is referred to as non-verbal communication or behavior.

During the job interview, some of the non-verbal communication behaviors that you will want to practice include sitting up straight, smiling often (but not too much), and maintaining regular eye contact with the interviewer while not staring. As you sit down for the interview, make sure you sit still, and do not fidget around. It is also important to make sure you avoid slouching.
