November 2012exam winning tips By Shivang

Only 5 effective months are pending for one of the Toughest Exams in India....And i am sure many of my friends have not started some subjects or are taking it with ease. Will be tensed by looking other studying with 12-15 hours a day. I know all this as i was also one of you all when exam were coming and only few months were pending.

Here Some tips For preparation of subjects within the time limit and can do better revision before exams.

1. First advice is do not think that you have 5 effective months to complete your studies. Now only 4 months are remaining and not the October. Keep it for full revision of all subjects.

2. Try to prepare for both the groups as there are high chances to clear exams if you appear for both groups. You can get set off with the other group you there are one or more favorite subjects or one or more subjects you are good in..

3. Take atleast 2 subjects daily. One theory and one practical to keep your mind calm and tensed free.

4. For DT for final student, do atleast 30 pages daily to complete the syllabus. its more than 1000 pages. For IDT, try to capture the rules and latest case studies. FOR DT and IDT a month before exams, you can get a book for case= laws from the ICAI branch. Try to read all the case laws. definately around 20 marks case laws will it be from there only. Only the figures and name will change. ( for DT B. ahuja and for IDT: bangar)

5. For DT for IPCC/PE2/PCC students, try to complete the five heads of Income first. Solve various types of Examples from G. Ahuja or Singhania.

6. For accounts, Solve atleast one example of amalgamation and Holding and subsidiary accounts daily. Only 1. It will keep you updated with the calculations. Chances are high that you forget in exams.

7. For Audit, refer to Padhuka. On the first pages there is chart prepared regarding weightage of questions from chapters. Try to complete the higher weightage chapters first.

8. For law, try to remmember the provisions. try to understand logically all the provisions. They are very simple. If you cant remember the sections, its completely ok.

9. Costing is the subject where many students fail to get even 40. Its been a very easy and scoring subject for me. You can easily get above 60 in it. Just try to apply your own logic with the examples. Underline the imp points in question first and than read it and solve it logically. There is no particular method or rules to solve costing problems. Please read costing theory which will help you to score marks. Dont Neglect theory. ITs very important.

10. Last but not the least is MICS. (Information system), try to complete it and revise atlest 3 times before your exam day. Use ICAI Module only for this subject. Most important is in this subject you will know the answers but you will forget that what is the Question for the answer. Try to underline the important words in the questions also. That will help to understand you answer. And attend 100 marks eventhough you dont know any question. write anything logical relating to the subjects.

>>> Best of LUCK....

* books are referred as per my experience and convinience.

Inspirational thought for qualifying CA Course..Dont miss it

Dear Friends,
The body require good food to remain healthy like wise human brain require good and positive thought to be positive and achieve the success. Brain work just like a computer system. Input…>process…>outlook
Burning desire
What is this implies? To become a chartered Accountant must be burn inside you.
It is a strong desire to achieve the ultimate goal. Even if you weak but have a strong desire to become a CA, and trying too hard for your mission, you may some time may be failing but will reach the ultimate aim.
In sum, an average student c an also become a CA provided he do posses the burning desire.
This is a serious outlook of you for your ultimate goal. Even if you posses all the qualities to become a good chartered Accountant will not be fruitful unless you don’t have a strong and firm desire for your ultimate goal.
But cultivating this desire is too difficult but once you had generated such desire then it will sustain over a period of time.
Rising according to the opportunity.
If the opportunity with you is challenging to achieve, you need to feed a positive feed back to the brain and the necessity to rise according to the opportunity at hand.
In this context, I do suggest the mantra of sree sankara “be cautious and always cautious” even if when you sleep. So start now the mantra
If you cautious, will pay more attention to the study aspect, finding the ways for your improvement of inherent skills and talent.
Never ever feel that you are perfect and complete, try room for further improvement.
The opportunity is so challenging here and raises 10 steps ahead, dare to be different from others, try to find the ways for future improvement so that no ICAI people can stop you for qualifying the CA course.
Total and complete involvement in studies
If you have good interest in studies, you can make the toughest paper to be easy.
But never give a negative feed to your brain that the subject is too difficult and require some specialized coaching for getting through the subject. Once you give such feed back to brain, my dear friends please be understand that you are 10 steps behind and there is no difference between you and the remaining students.
Whatever not possible today will be possible for tomorrow but it require time.
If you have a positive outlook and understanding the basic and concepts, then, my dear friends you can do own your own with out depends on the coaching or tuition.
Mostly the students were neglect the basic and concepts, they giving the false feed to the brain that these elements are already learn and I know it well.
Trying hard for expert level, attending the coaching and tuition and trying to inject the so called basic and concept but May fails in front of a surprise and practical questions of ICAI.
Nothing is impossible provided you have time to adhered to the basic and concept and have a good mind for doing hard work.
All the best

Smart tips for qualifying CA course...Dont miss it

Dear friends,
Is CA course is tough or difficult to clear? Answer is a big No.
Then you may rise a question regarding why a lower passing out ratio?
Is there any pre determined pass out ratio?
Reason for low pass out ratio
Pass mark for individual paper is just 40 marks but the aggregate for a particular group shall be 50%. I hope every student must know this is the benchmark of ICAI. Many students were achieving the 40 plus mark but fails in the aggregate.
This means you had achieved 40 marks and just requires 10 more mark for passing out the course.
So the target in front of you is 50 marks, if you want to jump this benchmark set a target of 60 marks so that you can easily jump the benchmark. But for securing the 60 mark, you need to do a lot of hard work .You must be willing to sacrifice your comfort level. You must be willing to work hard and smart also. Setting 60 plus is so easy but getting 50 plus is a difficult.
Taking a right decision at the right time will lead you success.
Whether to write both group and one particular group.
This decision in turn depends upon the time at your disposal. If you have enough time to prepare well for 60 plus mark target for all the papers, you can opt for both group else try for one particular group. If you don’t have time and opt for both, there may be a risk of failure may be fails for want of aggregate. If you had written both and failed for want of aggregate or failed do remember that there was a little time with you.
Whether opt for Self study or go for coaching
Never ever take your decision to undergo coaching blindly. You may have a false feeling that coaching will cater all your needs. But once you join the class you may find very difficult to catch the teacher. It is better to go coaching for difficult subject such as cost and FM etc. If you had opt for self study will take good time. So take coaching wisely and save money.
Borne in mind that in the beginning stage such as from CPT to direct P CC/I P C C you may find the entire subject so difficult. This is due to the difference in the standards. Don’t be tense and undergo for coaching. Do remember that you can handle most of the papers. But require time.
All the skills and talent require for qualifying the CA course is with you. If you undergone for a coaching institute, the teacher just boost the inherent skills inside you. How he is doing, he just injects the basic and conceptual angle.

Role of good reference book and Suggested answers, scanners
Is ICAI material is good? Obviously the answer is yes. But it is not student free as well as structured. It is highly recommended to buy one reference book along with ICAI material or modules. But you must take extra care while purchasing a reference book.
If you have more than 6 months for preparation you can opt for V K singhania Book. But if the time available with you is less than 6 month better to buy T N Manoharan or Padhuka. Thus, purchase of reference books also depends upon the time availability.
Systematic studies
Daily targets
It is advisable to fix a daily target. Fix a balancing timetable with you. But the hour’s utilization shall be in such a manner that will optimize your maximum possible potential.
Full focus while you read
Give maximum focus at the time of reading. Get through the basic and concepts. Try to learn own your own. If you cannot able to do own your own, then go for a best coaching centre.
Good notes
Make a good note. The note making requires some skills and experience. But if your note is good, just reading a point will lead to understood you the main concept. But try to prepare notes.
Periodic revision
Revision is an essential factor for success. You must revise periodically. You can use the notes at the time of revision. Those who not revise periodically may produce a poor result for the exam.
Group studies
It is better to have a group for studies particularly for the problem paper. But care need to be taken for the size of the group. Maximum 5 people or less shall be an ideal group. Group studies will be fruitful at the time of revision and the problem paper like Cost and FM and Advanced Accounts.

How you can maximize the potential? You must imagine for the bench mark level of CA course and your target of 60 mark and the effort that you need to put for achieving the said target. Don’t be tense if you are not achieved the 100% achievement. In some students cases their time table is one place but the utilization is in difference manner.

All The best

How to win a Group Discussion...CA and CS Prakash Somani

HOW TO WIN A GROUP DISCUSSION
1.        Remove the fear that you are not good in English so you can never clear the GD
2.       Ask interviewer about his requirements, you can do it by talking to them for few minutes though it is a tricky job to trace out interviewers needs.
3.       Make an eye contact with everyone and not particularly to a person
4.      Every interviewer has different criteria to select i.e. some may prefer aggressive candidate or someone may not select so better to know from interviewer what exactly he is looking for
5.       Sometime you have a choice to form groups then you can join a group which has similar candidates like you in terms of knowledge etc (Though every time you may not get this chance)
6.      Every interviewer before the GD starts gives you 5 minits time to think over the topic so in this mean time you should write as much points as you can about the topic
7.       remember that who starts first will get additional points
8.      Don’t show over enthusiasm which is unnecessary
9.      Be confident enough while speaking, speak slowly and in case someone wants to overtake you then interrupt him saying that "Let me finish..." be polite in saying so
10.    Before GD starts you can personally discuss with interviewer what could be the possible topics he may ask (you may get a fair idea on what is interviewers expectations are)
11.     If you are not selected in  GD, talk personally to interviewer about why you are not selected
12.    Never abuse other persons during the discussion else it will have bad impression of yours
13.    Never lose your temper, speak slowly and clearly
14.    During discussion you can add some matters which are though not directly related to Topic given but may support you to maintain continuity of discussion (VVI)
15.    Your sitting position does matter for the interviewer so choose the place where interviewer can directly notice you
16.    you can end the discussion with thank you note to everyone and not only interviewer

10 study habbit of a successful student By Balasubramanya

Successful students have good study habits. They apply these habits to all of their classes. Read about each study habit. Work to develop any study habit you do not have.
Study Habits, Studying
Successful students:
Study Habits, Clipboard Checklist

1.
Try not to do too much studying at one time.

If you try to do too much studying at one time, you will tire and your studying will not be very effective. Space the work you have to do over shorter periods of time. Taking short breaks will restore your mental energy.
2.
Plan specific times for studying.

Study time is any time you are doing something related to schoolwork. It can be completing assigned reading, working on a paper or project, or studying for a test. Schedule specific times throughout the week for your study time.
3.
Try to study at the same times each day.

Studying at the same times each day establishes a routine that becomes a regular part of your life, just like sleeping and eating. When a scheduled study time comes up during the day, you will be mentally prepared to begin studying.
4.
Set specific goals for their study times.

Goals will help you stay focused and monitor your progress. Simply sitting down to study has little value. You must be very clear about what you want to accomplish during your study times.
5.
Start studying when planned.

You may delay starting your studying because you don't like an assignment or think it is too hard. A delay in studying is called "procrastination." If you procrastinate for any reason, you will find it difficult to get everything done when you need to. You may rush to make up the time you wasted getting started, resulting in careless work and errors.
6.
Work on the assignment they find most difficult first.

Your most difficult assignment will require the most effort. Start with your most difficult assignment since this is when you have the most mental energy.
7.
Review their notes before beginning an assignment.

Reviewing your notes can help you make sure you are doing an assignment correctly. Also, your notes may include information that will help you complete an assignment.
8.
Tell their friends not to call them during their study times.

Two study problems can occur if your friends call you during your study times. First, your work is interrupted. It is not that easy to get back to what you were doing. Second, your friends may talk about things that will distract you from what you need to do. Here's a simple idea - turn off your cell phone during your study times.
9.
Call another student when they have difficulty with an assignment.

This is a case where "two heads may be better than one."
10.
Review their schoolwork over the weekend.

Yes, weekends should be fun time. But there is also time to do some review. This will help you be ready to go on Monday morning when another school week begins.

These ten study habits can help you throughout your education. Make sure they are your study habits.

Face to Face Job Interview Preparation By Balasubramanya

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail
The ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu said that "victorious warriors win first and then go into battle, while losers go to battle first and then try to win."
While some may find it difficult to understand the meaning behind this quote, it is directly related to how you can succeed during the job interview, and can be summed up in one word: preparation.

successful people are often those who prepare themselves for things in advance. They do not improvise by just showing up to the job interview, trying to succeed as it takes place.
Instead, they prepare themselves mentally and physically in advance. This article will teach you how to prepare yourself.
"Physically prepare yourself for the job interview," that means you need to be very clean cut. Your clothes, hair, and body should be clean.
You should make sure your clothes are ironed, and hardly any wrinkles should be present when you show up.
Make sure you get any lint out of your clothes as well. Companies are not interested in hiring people who are not clean cut professionals, so this is the image you must convey.
Clothes which are wrinkled or dirty will make you look tacky, dirty, and unprofessional, and this ensures that you will not get the job.
While having clean cut clothes doesn't mean you need to go out and spend a fortune on a new wardrobe, you must make sure the clothes you do wear are clean and pressed.
It is also important to make sure the clothes don't have any holes, missing buttons, or things of that nature.
The colors should also match. Once you've prepared yourself physically for the interview, you will next need to prepare yourself mentally.
Mental preparation refers to the mindset that you must have in order to succeed during the interview.
You must have confidence without arrogance, and you must be capable of answering the questions that you will be asked during the interview.
Mental Preparation for the Interview
It is impossible for you to know the exact questions that you will be asked during the job interview. While there are some general questions that many employers ask, such as why you want to work for the company, or where do you see yourself in five years, there is no guarantee what order these questions will come in.
Instead trying to predict the questions that you will be asked, there are some general things that you can do to make sure you're mentally prepared for the interview process. One of the smartest things you can do is research the company in advance. Many people are so desperate to get a job that they don't bother to research the companies they apply with.
Always Research the Company in Advance
For the typical man or woman, once they find out that the salary or benefits are to their liking, they apply for the job. You have to be smarter than this. Researching the company in advance will give you data which can be used during the job interview.
For example, if the interviewer asks you why you want to work for the company, and you've researched them in advance, you will have a good answer. You should also take the time to think carefully about the skills and characteristics you have which will allow you to be a valuable asset to the company. It is critical to make sure you can separate yourself from the other applicants, in a positive way.

How to Handle Pressure During Interview By Balasubramanya

You may have received many pieces of advice from friends and relatives on how to behave in a job interview. There could be so much pressure on you that you tend to seek the advice of others who may have ideas on how to behave exactly as what you are naturally, but you find that this is easier said than done. Since this is your first experience in an interview it is not an easy thing to handle as far as you are concerned. You have to get some help from others who have been through it before.
One of the tricks that successful actors have learned after having done hundreds of interviews and auditions may be of help to you in taking off some of thatpressure hounding you. Their way of coping with nervousness, if they were to advise you, is simple:
Treat the interview as the job itself and not what you will get if you do a good interview. So, with that frame of mind, you could lessen the psychologicalpressure that has been bothering you as you wait for the actual interview. This technique will remove that doubt causing the pressure on you (“What if I do not get this job?”) because you will feel relaxed with the thought that you are now actually working on the job. So, it is quite simple – give a good interview as you will be thinking that you are doing good on the job that you have been hired to do.
Psychologically, it will also help you to feel better if this coming interview is not the only egg in your basket, in a way of speaking, so apply for more jobs than you need. With another interview lined up for you as a result of many job applications that you have submitted, there will be lesspressure that you will feel on this very first interview that you are booked.
Wearing something that you feel well in, will also be helpful in easing the pressure. You will not be looking good and looking great during the interview if you feel uncomfortable in what you are wearing. If you have a particular piece of clothing that you consider as your interview outfit, it will help you to wear it to one or two social events to bed it in.
Be ready to have something to say in answer to an open question which the interviewer might ask, typically any one, or more, of the following:
• Tell me more about yourself than what you have written in your CV
• What have you been doing lately before this interview?
• Why made you apply for this job?
• Why do you think that we should choose you for this job?
Preparing an answer that will allow you to talk about something you've been involved in recently will help you to relieve the pressure that you are feeling. When you think of the answer that you will give and it has to do with something that you have been so enthusiastic about before, your mind will be quite occupied, causing you to forget all about thepressure of the interview.
When you report for the interview, bring other things that are not exactly related to the job you are applying for. They could be things that will help you illustrate your other skills and qualities as a person. When you show that you are just being your natural self in the interview, you are showing the kind of person that you really are – and that you have no pretensions at all.
